Tools Summary

  • Rytr โ€“ The best AI writing assistant for generating high-quality blog content.
  • Claude โ€“ The best AI assistant for creating high-quality blog posts that truly sound like you.
  • ChatGPT โ€“ A great alternative to Claude. Itโ€™s just as good at creating blog and social media content, though in my experience, the quality isnโ€™t quite as good.
  • Hemingway Editor โ€“ The best content editor for revisions and fixing grammatical errors.
  • Wordtune โ€“ A strong alternative to Hemingway. It's best used on other websites for grammar checks, keeping a consistent tone, and/or tweaking sentence length.

Rytr: Best AI writing assistant for blogging and social media

One of the biggest challenges for small businesses that want to use AI to create content regularly is ensuring quality.

Most AI assistants are trained on massive datasets. This makes them alright for content creation but the quality of the output is very simple and unimaginative.

A way to overcome this is by training your AI assistant with custom use cases and a personalized tone of voice.

And Rytr lets you do exactly that.

Rytr is an AI writing assistant that lets you expand on the content you already have by using custom use cases and tones of voice.

Let me show you how it works:

Letโ€™s say I want to create a blog post about content repurposing and need an introduction. All I have to do is select the โ€œBlog Section Writingโ€ use case, and under โ€œSection header or topicโ€, type in, โ€œintroduction: + blog post title.โ€

Next, Iโ€™d pull up my outline, copy the key points I want to highlight, and paste them into the โ€œSection keywordsโ€ box.

After that, choose how many variations you want and set the creativity level. I always choose โ€œoptimalโ€ because it ensures Rytr generates content based on my input while allowing for some creative flexibility. This keeps the meaning intact but the wording has a fresh spin.

Finally, click, โ€œRyte for meโ€ to generate your introduction.

Once thatโ€™s done, review the content and move on to the rest of your blog post.

If you want a deeper dive into the full process, weโ€™ve got a complete guide on creating a blog post with Rytr,โ€”so be sure to check it out!

As you can see, Rytr is incredibly handy.

Itโ€™s one of the quickest ways to improve your content workflow, and itโ€™s one of the most affordable options on the market. You can get their unlimited plan for $9/month or $7.50/month if billed annually.

With this plan, you get access to unlimited content creation and can create one personalized tone of voice.

So, if this sounds like something that could help you, and youโ€™re starting out creating blog content, give Rytr a shot. Itโ€™s one of the best AI writing assistants Iโ€™ve used, and Iโ€™m sure youโ€™ll find it useful.

And if you already have some contentโ€”say, around 15 blog posts that youโ€™re happy withโ€” then check out the next tool!

Claude: Best general AI assistant for content creation

Image shows how Claude answers to a prompt when we give it content for training

Claude is another AI assistant that helps you perform tasks based on specific inputs. Itโ€™s similar to Rytr, but the main difference is in how much data you can feed into it.

Rytr doesnโ€™t give you as much room to train your models. Rytr limits you to around 500 words vs Claude which gives you a 200,000 context windowโ€”which is equal to a 500-page book.

This means you can train it with far more information, leading to higher-quality content and the ability to handle more complex tasks.

And thatโ€™s exactly what we want. We want to use all the content we already have to train custom models. Then, we use those models to generate high-quality content that is as close as possible to something we would write ourselves.

Now, I wonโ€™t dive into a full tutorial here, but donโ€™t worryโ€”Claudeโ€™s website has step-by-step instructions. Iโ€™ll link them below so you have easy access to them.

But essentially, to get started with Claude, you start by creating a project using your documents, code, or files.

Once your projectโ€™s ready, ask Claude to generate your blog post based on the research youโ€™ve done and the data you want to use to back up your claims.

After Claude generates the content, you simply review and tweak it however you like.

So, if youโ€™ve got some content already, and you need a tool that can help you produce high quality content fast, check out Claude.

Their pro plan is $20/month, and they offer a team plan for $30/month, or $25/month if billed annually.

ChatGPT: General AI assistant (best alternative to Claude)

Image shows an example of how ChatGPT answers when you ask it something.

ChatGPT is pretty much the same as Claude, but in my experience, the quality of its outputs isnโ€™t quite as good. That said, itโ€™s still a solid option, especially if youโ€™re more comfortable using  ChatGPT over Claude.

Like Claude, ChatGPT lets you train custom models based on your existing contentโ€”they call them โ€˜Custom GPTsโ€™.

The main advantage is that you can create Custom GPTs to personalize your content. The downside is that you only have access to them with their Plus plan, but itโ€™s amazing for creating blog posts and even social media content.

If you want to lift the limited access to GPT-4o, get their Plus plan for $20/month, or opt for their Team plan at $25/month (billed annually) per member.

Iโ€™ll leave links to guides on how to train custom GPTs and how to prompt ChatGPT for better results below:

Hemingway Editor: Best content editor for blogging

Image shows an example of what the desktop version of the Hemingway Editor looks like

Hemingway is a content editor that highlights areas for improvement. The way it works is by pointing out complex sentences, overuse of adverbs, and ways to simplify your language.

Some of the best things about Hemingway AI is how it suggests alternatives and improvements, and fixes grammatical errors on the spot. So, if youโ€™re stuck trying to rework a clunky sentence, you donโ€™t need to stressโ€”youโ€™ll get help right away.

Something important to highlight is that you can use Hemingway for free to analyze your content, but it wonโ€™t provide automatic rewritesโ€”youโ€™ll need to make those changes yourself.

Another thing to consider is that you can buy an offline desktop version of Hemingway for $19.99 USD. That way, you can keep refining your writing even when you're on the go and donโ€™t have internet access. Youโ€™ll still get the same helpful analysis, and you can save and load files offline, but keep in mind it wonโ€™t offer automatic corrections.

So, if you want to improve the quality and clarity of your writing, get grammar corrections, and tighten up your content, check out the Hemingway Editor. Iโ€™m sure youโ€™ll love how much easier it makes things for you.

Wordtune: Best content editor for grammar checking and improving writing on most websites

Image shows the Wordtune dashboard with content and highlights for revisions

Wordtune is a content editor that is similar to Hemingway, but in my experience, its corrections are a bit more refined.

In some ways, Wordtune is even more versatile than Hemingway. For example, it has a browser extension that lets you use it on almost any website where you can write.

Another thing I like is that they have a mobile app. If youโ€™re someone who likes to write on the go, itโ€™s a must-have on your smartphone or iPad.

The downside is that Wordtune doesnโ€™t offer the same detailed highlights to improve clarity and reading level like Hemingway does.

So, it really comes down to the type of experience youโ€™re looking for. Wordtune is perfect if you want to use it on other websites for grammar checks, keeping a consistent tone, or tweaking sentence length.

Wordtune offers a free version to get you started, and their unlimited plan is $9.99/month, billed annually.

My final thoughts

There's often skepticism around whether AI-generated content can match the quality and authenticity of human writingโ€”and for good reason.

Most AI generated content is very basic, simple, and not very useful. But the reason why most AI generated content is like this is because people donโ€™t take the time to train custom models using high-quality content.

If you do, youโ€™ll end up with blog posts that sound like you, use examples youโ€™ve shared before, and are way more descriptive and imaginative.

So, take the time to understand how these platforms work and how you can use them to create better content faster. Theyโ€™ll save you a lot of time and money in the long run.

Alright, I hope this information was useful! If you have any questions about these tools, feel free to drop them in the comments below.
